What is manufactured stone veneer? Shiloh Ridge Stone veneer is manufactured from materials derived from nature. Hand crafted molds made using only the finest natural stone showing the patterns and ridges only found in real stone. The result is a product that looks, feels and lasts likes natural stone—but is much easier to install.

What is the difference between Shiloh Ridge Stone Veneer and natural stone? Although similar, there are few differences you will like;

• Natural stone is much heavier and requires footings and wall ties/anchors which makes it more expensive and difficult to install.
• Shiloh Ridge Stone Veneer is formed from molds using real stone which give it a natural appearance.
• Shiloh Ridge Stone Veneer will include un-usable stone and will require more cutting which will increase installation costs and the time it takes to install.
• Shiloh Ridge Stone Veneer is comprised of individually hand-selected stones to minimize waste. You will have less cutting, therefore less waste. Shiloh Ridge Stone Veneer is lighter weight, designed to go on with greater ease and adhere firmly to many varieties of structurally sound surfaces - lowering your overall costs.

What are the benefits of using manufactured stone? Generally, the installation of Shiloh Ridge Stone Veneer is considerably less when compared to the cost of using natural stone. It’s light weight properties eliminate the need for wall ties or footings. Manufactured stone has a 3% (approximately) waste factor versus 10% or more for natural stone.
How much does Shiloh Ridge Stone weigh? Approximately 8-10 lbs. per square foot (depending on style). Shiloh Ridge Stone qualifies as an adhered veneer because it weighs less than 15 lbs. per square foot.
How thick are the stones? Approximately 1 to 2 ½ inches depending on the texture and style.
Where can I install Stone Veneer (what types of applications are best suited)? Shiloh Ridge Stone fits nearly any building plan — large or small, interior or exterior. It is the perfect choice for new construction, remodeling, restoration and refurbishing—residential and commercial. Don’t stop there -- the applications are limitless. Shiloh Ridge Stone can be applied to any structurally sound surface with the proper preparation.
Will Shiloh Ridge Stone fade? Shiloh Ridge Stone Veneer is engineered to resist long term negative effects that may come with age. The base color is blended throughout and absorbed when the veneer is manufactured. Color becomes an integral part of the veneer and, similar to natural stone, there are minimal noticeable color changes after years of weathering.
Can I really install Shiloh Ridge Stone myself? Let's be honest – some people are better at home projects and/or construction work and enoy it more than others, but in general yes - installation of Shiloh Ridge Stone can be installed by almost anyone. However, installation does require a fundamental understanding of stone masonry and how to prepare your surface for installation. With a little bit of study and effort most people can do the job.
How important is proper installation? As with any building material, the beauty of that product is greatly enhanced by how well it is installed. With Shiloh Ridge Stone, careful consideration regarding the style and color selected, the actual installed stone "pattern", and the type of grout technique used, are all very important factors to regard. It is always best to create a mock up board with the desired pattern prior to installation on your project.
What type of coverage can be expected? Installers should be able to do approximately 110 square feet per day. This varies depending upon the stone type used and the installer’s ability. Some styles are more modular and easier to install and will provide coverage of up to 200 square feet in a day. Conversely, others have irregular shapes and varying stone sizes, and can limit coverage to 70-80 square feet a day.
Is Shiloh Ridge Stone combustible and what is the fire rating? No. Shiloh Ridge Stone will not produce any harmfull smoke or gases and is non-combustible (it will not burn) therefore there is no fire rating.
Can Shiloh Ridge Stone be installed around a fireplace? Shiloh Ridge Stone can be installed around a fireplace. The veneer has to be a minimum of 18" from any open flame. We suggest you review your local building codes as they may vary.
How do I clean the Shiloh Ridge Stone®? To clean dirt or other particles first try a simple soft bristle brush. If necessary use a mild detergent mixed with water or a solution of (no more than) 1 part white vinegar to 5 parts water or you can use a solution of warm water and tri-sodium phosphate. Rinse with clean water to remove any cleaning solution that might remain on the surface. Never use wire brushes, acid cleaners, power washers, bleach, paint remover or any other type of concrete cleaner.
How do I clean efflorescence? When efflorescence occurs, as it does with many masonry products, it is the usually the result of moisture migration through the masonry substrate. Once the moisture is on the masonry surface, it evaporates, depositing dissolved salts in the form of efflorescence. Efflorescence naturally disappears over time as long as the moisture source is controlled or eliminated. Efflorescence may be removed with a solution of 1 part white vinegar to 5 parts water. Scrub using a soft bristle brush and vinegar/water solution. Rinse well with clean water.
Can I seal Shiloh Ridge Stone? Sealing Shiloh Ridge Stone is not necessary but a sealer will provide added protection and will usually be easier to clean if the surface becomes dirty. If you choose to use a sealer for added protection use only a silane or siloxane-based penetrating , breathable masonry sealer. NOTE: A sealer may affect the stone color and may create a gloss or matte finish. Always test a small area beforehand.
How does Shiloh Ridge Stone® withstand freeze / thaw cycles? Shiloh Ridge Stone products are tested for freeze /thaw durability. As with any installation, making sure to incorporate good building practices that include proper flashing and water diversion techniques will help ensure a successful installation.
Does Shiloh Ridge Stone meet building code requirements? Shiloh Ridge Stone complies with all applicable Building Code requirements.
Can I install Shiloh Ridge Stone near water? It is not recommended for use below the water line in a pool, a fountain or below grade. A high quality penetrating and breathable sealer that is either silane or siloxane-based is recommended in areas where the stone may be subject to frequent water run off. NOTE: A sealer may affect the stone color and/or create a gloss or matte finish. Always test a small area beforehand.
What is Shiloh Ridge Stone’s recommendation on flashing around windows and doors? To maintain the weather-resistance of the exterior wall on which the stone products are installed, a rigid, corrosion-resistant flashing — and a means of drainage — should be installed at all penetrations and terminations of the veneer cladding. Flashing type and locations shall be in accordance with the requirements of the applicable code.
Does Shiloh Ridge Stone need a ledge detail at the bottom for structural support or can it hang freely? No footings or support ledges are needed. The product is an adhered veneer and is supported on the wall by the bond of the mortar to the stone and scratch coat.

Project Management
At North American Stone Company we can supply you with the quality products you need, or we can go further and help you to manage the full and complete portion of your Architectural Cast Stone and/or manufactured stone veneer project. We will ship your cast stone project with each pallet and piece tagged and identified, with a corresponding list on the plans submitted to us. Your product will arrive carefully packaged and clearly identified.
Shipping & Delivery
Time is money and we strive to insure that we have the stock you need when you need it. North American Stone maintains a large inventory of our standard stock items of Architectural Cast stone items. On items that are custom designed – we will work with you to schedule the quickest delivery date possible, and then we will insure that date is achieved. North American Stone Company maintains its own delivery vehicles for orders in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metro-plex area. For shipments outside that area we maintain aggressive freight contracts with freight companies that have proven to be reliable and will handle your products with care and concern for its arrival in perfect condition.
